Description
The Manager of Ontology and Data Modeling is a key role at Capital One, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise ontologies in support of the company's Data Strategy.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across various business lines and functions to develop domain ontologies, partner with Technology, Machine Learning, and other teams to integrate semantic technology into Capital One products and services, and drive comprehensive design decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining clear problem statements to help teams deliver results
- Leveraging customer insights to influence priorities and roadmap development
- Owning and prioritizing the near-term Ontology and Data Modeling roadmap
- Utilizing balanced judgment in decisions about risks and innovation
- Understanding and leveraging technology and end-state architecture vision
- Delivering value by creating reusable, extensible, and resilient capabilities
- Developing and communicating a 6-month vision to senior stakeholders
- Contributing to team culture and recruiting top talent
- Managing teams that develop, implement, and govern ontologies and optimized data models
- Communicating and advocating the value of Capital One's efforts in ontologies, semantics, and standardization
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, or computational linguistics
- At least 4 years' experience in a metadata field of work
- Experience with W3C standards, including linked and canonical data and ontologies
- Experience with ontology and linked data tools
- Strong research skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present ideas clearly and with confidence
