Description
Maternity Matrons are vital to delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to women, birthing people, and their families. They serve as visible, inclusive leaders who uphold professional standards, promote patient safety, and support staff development.
In this role, you will provide dynamic clinical and managerial leadership for the Labour Ward, Labour Ward Theatres, Triage, and Bereavement Services, ensuring the highest standards of personalised care for women and birthing people in the Hillingdon community.
You will be the line manager and professional lead for Labour Ward Coordinators, Bereavement Midwife, and the Lead Midwife for Maternity Triage, and support the management of midwives, support workers, and administrative staff.
A key aspect of the role is providing a highly visible and authoritative presence across Labour Ward and Triage, being available to women/birthing people, families, and staff to offer assistance, address concerns, and ensure that personalised, equitable care is at the centre of everything we do.
The Labour Ward and Maternity Triage Matron will drive improvements in line with national maternity safety and quality initiatives. This includes implementing the recommendations from recent maternity reviews (such as the Ockenden Review into Care at Nottingham Maternity Services, The Amos Report, and the National Maternity Triage Specifications) and meeting the requirements of national programmes like the NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme.
