Description
WSP is seeking a Sr. Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join their East Energy team in Binghamton, NY, or other locations including Buffalo, NY, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Portland, ME, and Augusta, ME. The engineer will work on projects with the Energy Team, focusing on substation protection and control.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to review and design protection schemes for capital projects
- Perform detailed reviews of existing protection schemes to ensure they are not removed or modified without proper understanding
- Lead protection design for capital projects, defining relay protection functionality and schemes according to client standards
- Review contractor-provided relay settings, logic diagrams, and operational descriptions for capital projects
- Conduct area relay coordination and determine the level of coordination required for project changes
- Review and provide input on Owner's Aspen model changes for capital projects
- Provide design support during implementation, testing, and commissioning of projects
- Ensure all as-built documentation is properly filed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, power systems protection, and control
- EIT Certification
- IEC 61850/GOOSE experience
- Experience working in consulting firms is preferred
- Proficient with various engineering design tools and software

Compensation
- Expected salary: $83,200 - $145,530
