Description
As a PCB Designer on our electronics design team, you will develop innovative new technologies from concept to production for advanced electronic modules in next-generation vehicles.
You will lay out and route high-speed digital circuit boards for high production volumes, work with PCB fabricators and assembly suppliers, and deliver designs that meet quality, schedule and cost targets.
Responsibilities
- Lay out and route multi-GHz, high-speed boards, including through-hole, HDI and ELIC PCBs, using Mentor Xpedition Enterprise layout tools and schematic capture
- Take PCB layout through to completion of board files, generate BOMs and upload them to PLM
- Design mixed circuit and signal boards using fine-pitch and ball grid array ICs and large through-hole parts
- Propose stackups aligned with design requirements and cost efficiency
- Author cost-optimization panelization studies, and identify cost-saving opportunities while holding to design requirements
- Close DFMs and DFAs. Review, document and resolve the root cause of PCB fabrication FAIs and DFMs, and approve first article inspections
- Collaborate with fabrication and assembly suppliers on DFM and DFA requirements and fabrication tools
- Track bare-board compliance to performance and reliability requirements
- Propose improvements to existing design rules. Write technical specifications and instructions, and generate documentation that improves design processes and procedures
- Assist in creating ECAD component library parts
- Design experiments and analyze raw data using statistical methods
- Arrange and participate in layout design reviews, and interface closely with other engineering disciplines
- Handle several designs in parallel in a team environment. Be accountable for on-time, on-quality PCB CAD releases, including extended hours during peak release periods
- Stay current on PCB materials, fabrication guidelines and IPC standards
- Travel occasionally to support PCB assembly and fabrication efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience designing high-speed digital circuit boards
- At least 3 years of experience with PCB CAD design (for example, through-hole, HDI and ELIC PCBs)
Benefits
- Immediate medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage
- Paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
- Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments and more
- Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
- Tuition assistance
- Established and active employee resource groups
- Paid time off for individual and team community service
- Generous vacation time, sick/personal time, and paid holidays, including between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day
