The Assets Protection (AP) team functions to keep guests, team members, and the brand secure, leading through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for guests.
As a Target Security Specialist, you will gain skills and experience in:
- Using intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure
- Crisis response, safety, and crowd management; providing support to both guests and team members
- De-escalation as well as experience with physical security controls and culture
- Using Target's video surveillance system
- Timely and accurately documenting cases using case management systems
A typical day as a Target Security Specialist will include:
- Creating an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience
- Greeting guests, helping them find what they need, and resolving issues
- Actively supporting team efforts and assisting peers in other areas
- Adjusting to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
- Promoting a physical security culture for team members and guests
- Responding to and accurately documenting security incidents
- Appropriately responding to guest issues to provide a safe and secure environment
- Leveraging de-escalation tactics and resources when responding to security incidents
- Conducting merchandise theft recoveries and providing theft apprehension support
- Preventing theft and shortage at the front of the store
- Submitting appropriate documentation in the case management system for all incidents
This role requires:
- A welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Capability to manage workload and prioritise tasks independently
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
The role also involves:
- Climbing up and down ladders
- Apprehending subjects in accordance with company policy
- Scanning, handling, and moving merchandise efficiently and safely
- Working a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
