Description
We are seeking a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer to join our growing Structures Midlands team in central Birmingham. In this role, you will undertake structural engineering design for discrete packages of work, including production of reports, calculation packages, and specifications. You will supervise technicians in the production of 3D models and drawings, work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and communicate design solutions verbally and through sketching, drawing, writing, and presentations. You will also visit sites to carry out inspections during the construction phase and assess existing structures.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and be progressing towards Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE). You will have a working knowledge of structural engineering principles and the application of Eurocodes, as well as a developing understanding of analytical techniques and design software. An interest in low carbon design and the assessment of embodied carbon in design solutions is desirable.
As a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer with WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of public and private sector client projects across the midlands region, ranging from inspections of existing structures to the design of significant development projects. You will report directly to the lead structural engineer for the projects you are involved with and have the opportunity to engage with multidisciplinary design teams, including external consultants.
