Description
We are seeking a Seasonal Yard Driver to join our team. As a Seasonal Yard Driver, you will drive and operate tractors/trailers in the yard, in a safe and efficient manner, while making trailer moves to doors and locations in the yard.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and operate tractors/trailers in the yard
- Make trailer moves to doors and locations in the yard
- Back up trailers into all types of dock and yard locations
- Hook and unhook trailers
- Maintain communication with Dispatch, Yard Coordinators, and Operation Managers via the radio
- Perform routine safety inspections of vehicles
- Complete job tasks assigned accurately and on time
Requirements:
- Possess or ability to obtain a valid driver's license prior to starting in role
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude while working independently and in a team environment
- Able to lift and carry materials/equipment up to 30 lbs. frequently and able to lift and carry equipment up to 60 lbs. infrequently
- Able to work independently, quickly and safely
- Ability to problem solve and escalate when needed
- Knowledge of the functions of tractors and trailers and their systems
- Able to work in all types of weather conditions
- Able to operate all equipment safely
- Able to read trailer information such as trailer numbers, safety procedures and protocols
- Basic math skills
- Ability to operate computer systems with minimal direction after receiving training
- CDL is preferred, but not required
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate of $26.00 USD per hour
- Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential, ranging from $2.00 to $3.50 per hour, based on eligibility
