Advanced Clinical Practitioner - RDCC and Acute Oncology

Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the Rapid Diagnostic Centre (RDC) team at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

For this role you must have completed and passed a physical assessment course (or equivalent), have or be working towards an Advanced Practice MSc and have used these advanced skills in practice. Applications will not be considered without this.

This is a unique role at the forefront of cancer diagnostics, offering the opportunity to further develop and shape an innovative model of care for patients presenting with non-specific but concerning symptoms that may indicate cancer.

The RDC provides a streamlined diagnostic pathway for patients whose symptoms do not fit traditional urgent suspected cancer referral routes. Working closely with primary care, cancer services and specialist teams, the service delivers holistic assessment, coordinates complex investigations, and aims to confirm or exclude a cancer diagnosis as quickly as possible, ideally within 28 days of referral.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will provide operational and professional leadership to the Rapid Diagnostic Centre and Acute Oncology Service (AOS) teams, supporting service development, workforce management, quality improvement and the delivery of high standards of patient care.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will utilise your expert assessment, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills to independently manage patients throughout the diagnostic pathway, with support from the RDC GP and wider multidisciplinary team. You will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring timely investigation, diagnosis, communication of results, and onward referral to the most appropriate specialty where required.
