Description
This is a full-time position as a Medical Interpreter at Intermountain Health's Park City Hospital. You will coordinate and deliver interpretation and translation services for individuals with limited English proficiency. The role involves interpreting medical information, acting as a cultural mediator, and translating written materials.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret medical and general information with high accuracy and completeness
- Interpret complex medical information, demonstrating expert knowledge of medical terminology and the healthcare system
- Act as a cultural mediator, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and superior intercultural communication skills
- Adhere to the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Healthcare Interpreters
- Manage time productively and respond to requests in a timely manner
- Use computer software and electronic tools for research and data entry
- Translate written material into one or more languages, maintaining meaning, context, and localization
Requirements:
- Current resume reflecting interpreting experience, employment history, and relevant certifications
- Successful completion of a pre-hire skills assessment
- Excellent oral and written command of both source and target language(s)
- Ability to perform consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation with high accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
- Certificate of completion from a 40-hr Professional Medical Interpreter course or equivalent qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working as an interpreter in healthcare settings
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interpretation or Translation, Languages or Communications
- National Certification as a Healthcare or Medical Interpreter
- Completion of a college-level medical terminology course
- Knowledge of EPIC
