Description
ABC10, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate station in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a full-time Visual Storyteller/Photojournalist.
Responsibilities:
- Shoot and edit breaking news, general assignments, sports, and feature stories for ABC10's broadcast and digital platforms
- Work independently or collaboratively with the team to gather and publish content on all platforms
- Edit broadcasts using non-linear applications, preferably Edius
- Be available to work weekends and varying shifts as needed
- Multi-task assignments while maintaining quality control
- Utilize creative production techniques to enhance stories
- Operate live shots with TVU, Dejero, microwave, or satellite truck
- Apply advanced lighting skills for broadcast
- Develop news stories and contact sources
- Attend editorial meetings and suggest story ideas
- Take still photographs
Requirements:
- BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience preferred
- Understanding of journalism principles
- Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
- Social media proficiency, including Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter)
- News judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills
- Flexibility with schedule, reliability, and dependability
- Knowledge of ENPS, EDIUS, non-linear editing programs, and Axis graphics
- Valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 40 lbs., and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
