Description
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Geotechnical Team in Bengaluru, India. The successful candidate will have at least 12 years of experience in designing foundations, slope stability, embedded retaining walls, settlement analysis, and damage assessment for various infrastructure projects, particularly metro projects.
The role involves working closely with team members, Project Managers, and Directors within the UK team to deliver projects. As a specialist within the UK&IE based Geotech Team, you will work on a range of geotechnical projects across the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Develop technically competent reports using efficient working practices to provide industry-leading services to clients.
- Support project delivery, including financial analysis, client liaison, public and statutory body consultation, quality control, and management of specialists, contractors, and sub-consultants.
- Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams working on geotechnical projects, and provide professional advice to build relationships and raise the profile of the geotechnical division.
- Effectively manage and deliver project work with robust project financial management, including budget responsibility.
- Ensure high technical standards, required quality, and budget allotment in project delivery.
- Operate in accordance with accepted methods and legislation, including CDM, and WSP's corporate health & safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
- Undertake continuing professional development and manage others across the team to maintain and build professional capability.
- Conduct technical peer reviews and quality checks of calculations, reports, and design deliverables.
- Maintain professional development and contribute to technical excellence initiatives within the team.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering / Soil Mechanics and Foundation engineering as specialization.
- At least 12 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a broad understanding of underlying principles and substantial project management experience.
- Strong UK-based experience, with knowledge of London base geology being a plus.
- Excellent report-writing and client liaison skills.
- Experience in using geotechnical software for design and analysis, including deep and shallow foundations, embedded and gravity retaining walls, earthworks/slope stability, and reinforced earthworks.
- Proven experience in metro projects, including underground elements design, ground movement assessment, and embedded retaining systems design.
- Familiarity with Eurocode 7 and UK annex design codes, ground investigation, and construction contracts and specifications.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software, including Oasys XDisp, PDisp, GeoSlope SLOPE/W, GEOSTUDIO, Repute 2.5, WALLAP, Settle 3D, Slide 2, Plaxis 2D, and Plaxis 3D.
Desired Skills:
- Hands-on experience in using geotechnical software like Oasys XDisp, PDisp, GeoSlope SLOPE/W, GEOSTUDIO, Repute 2.5, WALLAP, Settle 3D, Slide 2, Plaxis 2D, and Plaxis 3D.
- Knowledge in Engineering Geology or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Chartered Engineer from a reputed professional body membership (preferably ICE, UK) or working towards chartership with substantial progress demonstrated.
