Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team at Danesbury Neurological Centre in Welwyn. You will be working alongside our trained nursing and therapy staff assisting them in the day-to-day care and management of our patients to ensure they receive safe, high-quality nursing care on our Neurological Rehabilitation unit.
The post is part-time, working 23 hours per week, primarily on Wednesday and Thursday. The salary is £25,272 a year, pro-rata.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake personal care duties including bathing, toileting, dressing, supporting with meals, and assisting patients with activities of daily living.
- Ensure the patient's bed space is clean, tidy, safe, and that essential items are within easy reach.
- Deliver care in line with Trust policies, infection prevention, and health and safety guidelines.
- Contribute to patient record keeping by recording basic clinical information.
- Support and encourage patient independence and self-care.
- Ensure equipment and stores are well maintained and report any faulty items.
- Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:
- Previous NHS experience within a hospital/inpatient setting.
- Understanding of personal care needs.
- Understanding of the needs of older people.
- Understanding of Health and Safety at work.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to contribute to teamwork.
- Practical and personal care skills.
