Description
We are seeking a Vice President Software Engineer to join our team in the Market Risk IT department at Barclays. As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and improve software solutions that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements and devise solution strategies.
- Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed about industry technology trends and innovations, and contribute to the organisation's technology communities.
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Vice President Expectations

Requirements
- Problem-solving skills to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Considerable foundation in programming languages like Python, Java, .NET, and ability to work on an enterprise scale.
- Ability to collaborate within and across teams, lead and mentor team members, and solve problems as needed.
- Experience with secure coding practices and unit testing.
