Description
As a Healthcare Assistant - Overnight at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, you will give hands-on personal and clinical care to patients and support the people close to them, in patients' own homes, working alone with the nursing team's guidance behind you, under the direction of a registered professional.
The role involves providing personal care with dignity, working to each patient's care plan, noticing and reporting changes in condition or family need promptly to the registered professional. Once you've completed the RGP HCA competency workbook, you'll take on delegated clinical duties, such as observations, urinalysis, IPOS reviews, simple wound dressings, and syringe driver safety checks.
You will work 19 hours per week, consisting of 2 x 9.5 hour shifts per week, worked from 21:15 to 07:15 with a 30-minute break. The salary range for this position is £24,937 to £25,598 per annum.
The ideal candidate will have a Care Certificate, or a health and social care qualification at level 2 or above, experience of caring for people, and be able to communicate clearly and kindly with patients, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care with dignity: washing, toileting, mouth and skin care, nutrition and hydration, comfort at the end of life.
- Work to each patient's care plan; notice and report changes in condition or family need promptly to the registered professional.
- Once signed off in the workbook, carry out delegated clinical duties: observations (blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose), urinalysis, IPOS reviews, simple wound dressings, syringe driver safety checks.
- Record the care you give accurately and promptly in the electronic patient record.
- Work under the direction of a registered professional; act on your own initiative within delegated tasks, with supervision accessible including when working alone in patients' homes, with phone support always available.
