Description

Ford Energy is seeking a Cell DV/PV Testing Engineer to execute design verification (DV) and process verification (PV) testing on battery cells used in their grid-scale and commercial DC battery energy storage systems.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with cell-level test equipment, including cyclers, environmental and thermal chambers, and data acquisition systems. They will be responsible for tracking and analyzing performance and life testing conducted by external cell suppliers, diagnosing cell-level failures, and contributing to the evaluation of future/next-generation cell chemistries.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or a related engineering discipline, and at least 3 years of experience testing battery cells or battery systems in a lab or validation environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute DV and PV test plans on internally sourced battery cells, focusing on performance and life characterization
  • Set up and operate cell test equipment to generate performance and life data
  • Track and analyze supplier-generated performance and life test results
  • Diagnose cell-level failures and anomalies, and perform teardown analysis
  • Support evaluation of future/next-generation cell chemistries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cells meet performance, life, and reliability requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or a related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience testing battery cells or battery systems
  • Hands-on experience with battery cyclers, environmental/thermal chambers, and data acquisition systems
  • Working knowledge of DV/PV testing methodology and DVP&R/PVP&R documentation
  • Experience with failure analysis and teardown techniques for battery cells
  • Strong data analysis skills and technical report writing

Salary:

  • Salary grade 6: $74,300-$124,500
  • Salary grade 7: $86,600-$144,900
  • Salary grade 8: $99,100-$166,200
