Description
We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex. This is a bank role working on an 'as and when required' basis, supplementing staffing levels during busy periods and providing cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
The successful candidate will assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity. They will also help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate. Providing comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment, is also essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with personal care and mobility needs
- Supporting patients with eating, drinking, and nutrition
- Providing comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives
- Carrying out and accurately recording routine observations
- Supporting basic clinical procedures
- Preparing and maintaining clinical areas
- Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience in a care or health support role
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
We offer a competitive hourly rate of up to £12.71 per hour, depending on level of experience, training, and qualification.
