Description
We are a globally distributed team inside Adobe Developer Platforms, responsible for the observability platform that Adobe's engineering ecosystem runs on. This platform spans 50,000+ nodes, processes billions of OTel events daily, and features an auth service built in Go that handles 15,000 req/sec.
As an Observability Platform Engineer, you will compose, build, and run Adobe's observability platform at scale. Your responsibilities will include:
- Writing Go and Python code to extend OpenTelemetry Collector receivers, processors, and exporters, and contributing to open-source projects
- Building internal services, APIs, and tooling around OpenTelemetry
- Driving cost optimisation by analysing pipeline data, building guardrails, and engaging with engineering teams
- Developing developer-facing tooling and services, including AI-powered insights from high-volume telemetry and observability for AI and agent-based systems
- Owning SLOs and SLIs for a platform relied on by thousands of engineers daily
- Leading on-call and incident response for high-severity issues
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Strong, hands-on experience with Go and/or Python
- 5–8+ years of experience building and owning production software at scale, ideally platform or infrastructure products used by other engineers
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, including extending collectors and instrumenting applications with SDKs
- Familiarity with large-scale logging infrastructure, such as Splunk, ClickHouse, New Relic, Prometheus, and LangSmith
- Experience developing, deploying, and running distributed applications on cloud platforms, with container and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Comfort with owning on-call across a multi-tool observability stack, including leading incident response
Nice to have:
- Experience evaluating and prototyping alternative Observability platforms
- Experience with other Observability tooling like Grafana, Cortex, ElasticSearch, DataDog, VictoriaMetrics, and Mimir
- TypeScript/React experience, as we ship an observability plugin in Adobe's Developer Home
- Experience instrumenting AI/LLM or agent-based systems
