Laboratory Technician

Join our Rotorua Laboratory as a Civil Materials Laboratory Technician in a hands-on role supporting engineering materials testing. You will plan and deliver testing and investigations, produce accurate reports, and contribute to safety planning, equipment maintenance, and laboratory administration.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engineering materials testing and investigations across laboratory and field environments.
• Prepare accurate reports that meet laboratory quality requirements and support informed project decisions.
• Take ownership of assigned projects, coordinating priorities and following work through to completion.
• Contribute to safe work planning, quality systems, equipment maintenance, and day-to-day laboratory administration.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues and clients, bringing a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Requirements:

• At least three years' experience in a civil engineering laboratory or similar technical environment.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and accuracy, with confidence checking data and maintaining clear, reliable testing records.
• Well-developed organisational skills to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and see tasks through to completion.
• Clear communication and collaborative working style, with a client-focused approach and commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
• Strong physical fitness and ability to safely handle heavy materials and equipment.
• A current, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
