Description
Toast is seeking a highly skilled, AI-native Senior Product Designer to lead the experience of getting retailers started on Toast. You will design for the unique needs of a diverse retail customer base, working with product and engineering partners in Dublin and the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design for your product area, taking it from early discovery through shipped UI
- Prototype with AI tools like Replit, Magic Patterns, or Claude to build working, interactive prototypes
- Design AI-first workflows that reduce customer effort, such as importing and cleaning up existing item data
- Engage directly with customers to understand where setup breaks down and translate insights into design direction
- Make complex data feel simple, turning large catalogs and imports into clear, forgiving experiences
- Collaborate early and often with product managers and engineers
- Raise the bar for the team, delivering pixel-perfect UI and applying the Toast design system
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience leading design for complex product areas
- AI-native practice, using tools like Claude, Replit, or Magic Patterns daily
- Solid understanding of UX principles and best practices for web and native mobile applications
- Autonomy and initiative, with ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships across functions and regions
- Proficiency in design software, preferably Figma
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing data-heavy operational or B2B software
- Experience designing AI or machine-learning features
- Design system experience
- Prior experience in a startup environment
