Description
We're seeking a senior Software Engineer to join our Programmable Networking team. As a key member of this team, you will design, develop, and maintain our networking API product, including Private Networks, WireGuard interfaces, Virtual Cross Connects, and Public Internet Gateways.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the public API on api.telnyx.com, including resource modeling, OpenAPI 3 specs, and edge API-gateway routing
- Develop the orchestration control plane in Python 3.12, using asyncio, to translate API requests into network deployments
- Own the network automation layer, using Ansible and asyncssh/netmiko to push Jinja2-templated config to a fleet of Linux and VyOS nodes
- Collaborate on cloud interconnect integrations with Equinix Fabric and Equinix Metal APIs
- Work on Envoy-based data planes, using a Go xDS control plane on envoyproxy/go-control-plane
- Participate in production support, including Prometheus/Telegraf metrics and alerting, Bugsnag, and customer escalations
Requirements:
- Strong async Python skills in production, with experience in Go
- Working routing knowledge, including BGP sessions, VRFs, GRE tunnels, NAT, and WireGuard
- Experience with Postgres beyond ORM basics, including migrations, locking semantics, and queue patterns
- Fleet automation experience with Ansible at production scale
- Debugging skills across layers, including tcpdump, wg show, vtysh, and application logs
