Description
We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Werndale Hospital in Carmarthen. This is a part-time role for 30 hours a week, with a flexible shift pattern.
The successful candidate will assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, while respecting their preferences and dignity. They will also help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist patients with personal care needs
- Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives
- Carry out and accurately record routine observations
- Support basic clinical procedures
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas
- Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience in a care or health support role
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
