Description
We are seeking a Buyer within our Livestock team based at our Spalding site.
The successful candidate will maintain relationships with current and new suppliers, securing livestock at the given weekly price on farm or market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building critical relationships with suppliers and representing the company in a fair and reputable way
- Working with other buyers, the Livestock Office, and stakeholders to meet consumer needs
- Sourcing up to £450+ million of stock every year, including beef, lamb & pork, from over 3,000 suppliers
- Managing stakeholder relationships across the site and planning external sales
- Direct line management responsibility for 2 team members
- Ensuring service to abattoirs within 98% to Plan
- Achieving Livestock KPIs
- Safeguarding the business by visiting 100% of suppliers
- Optimising batches to ensure stock is bought to plan
- Monitoring supplier performance and reviewing publicity and marketing
- Confirming all buying on time in full as soon as possible
- Ensuring that all information provided is correct
- Facilitating Myton's Welfare & Sustainability policies
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in the livestock industry or previous buying experience
- Proven negotiation skills
- Experience of delivering category strategies in a complex market
- Knowledge of the livestock industry, buying/sourcing, and retail consumer needs
- Strong customer relations skills
- Ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Proficiency in Excel and basic computer programmes
- Good communication skills
- Ability to deal with immediate changes
