Senior Engineering Manager, App Excellence

The Senior Engineering Manager, App Excellence role involves leading a domain that spans approximately 25 individual contributors across Desktop Excellence, Mobile Excellence, and Browser Extension Excellence. The successful candidate will set strategy across platforms, lead through other managers and senior technical leaders, and establish operating mechanisms that help End User Experience ship with confidence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting strategy and operating model for App Excellence across desktop, mobile, and browser extension teams
• Leading through Engineering Managers, Team Leads, Staff Engineers, and other senior technical leaders
• Establishing shared practices for operational health, observability, quality, release readiness, and protection of critical customer journeys
• Connecting signals such as Bad User Days, crashes, latency, incidents, and key-flow success to prioritization and roadmap decisions
• Driving cross-team planning and trade-offs across platform compatibility, release, build, CI, and other shared dependencies
• Building strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Design, Security, Release Operations, and other stakeholders

Requirements:

• Significant experience leading software engineering teams, including experience managing or developing other engineering leaders
• Demonstrated ability to lead across multiple teams, products, or technical domains with shared dependencies
• Experience setting strategy, shaping an operating model, and turning ambiguous problems into clear priorities and measurable outcomes
• Strong judgment in balancing delivery speed, quality, reliability, customer impact, and long-term technical health
• A track record of building effective partnerships across Engineering, Product, Design, and other functions
• Experience using operational data, customer signals, and delivery metrics to guide decisions
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to create alignment from individual contributors through senior leadership
