The Financial Platform Eng team at Block is looking for a Software Engineer to design and build backend services, integrations, and workflow engines that keep the foundational financial operations running.
As a Software Engineer, you'll focus on transforming complex financial requirements into scalable technology solutions, with a specific emphasis on AI enablement.
Responsibilities:
- Build financial operations and reporting infrastructure
- Lead a platform migration
- Design workflow and automation systems
- Own integrations end-to-end
- Partner across the business
- Ensure compliance and data integrity
- Lead technical discussions
- Direct AI agents across the full development lifecycle
- Expand what's possible with AI tooling
Requirements:
- Embrace an AI-first mentality
- Familiar with agentic engineering
- 6+ years working on complex systems and delivering quality software
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design
- Experience with workflow or state machine systems
- Proficiency in building and maintaining APIs and integrations
- Experience working on financially sensitive or regulated systems
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Experience with platform migrations
- Background in financial services domains
- Experience building multi-tenant or multi-BU platforms
- Experience with operational analytics
