Description
The Manager, Occupational Safety is accountable for the performance and results of the Occupational Safety team. This role ensures the administration of plant-wide safety processes, emergency response planning, and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and administer company policies and conduct programs related to risk assessment, hazard identification, incident investigations, inspections, audits, safety culture, and engagement.
- Manage plant and facility-wide safety processes and initiatives, including the company’s Safety Operating System (SOS), emergency response planning and training, and off-standard approvals.
- Distribute and assign tasks to the regional and facility Occupational Safety team, serve as a primary point of contact for regular inspections and audits, and guide the team on accident prevention plans.
- Manage completion and timely submission of regional and plant-specific entry forms and physical plant entry for all projects.
- Develop and monitor KPIs for tracking safety incidents, injury statistics, corrective actions, training hours, resolution time, etc.
- Lead the administration of department-specific ergonomics training, general and fire safety trainings, machinery and equipment safety trainings, and root cause analysis.
- Communicate effectively with statutory authorities, regulatory bodies, and corporate representatives, and resolve safety issues and risks.
- Participate in the delivery of global, regional, and facility Occupational Safety specific communication, standards, and practices.
- Review and update Occupational Safety policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and corporate safety policies.
- Perform talent management responsibilities, including performance management, professional development, succession planning, disciplinary action, terminations, recruitment, pay decisions, and other personnel actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety/Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience with a Master’s degree or 8 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Occupational Safety or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (Preferred) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (Preferred).
