Senior CAD Designer - Piping (Open Plant & Micro Station)

WSP India is currently seeking a Senior CAD Designer - Piping for AU Mining infrastructure, who shall be responsible for creation and editing of drawings in compliance with WSP CAD Standards and detailing practices as well as producing high-quality output using Autodesk Plant 3D or Bentley Openplant.

The position involves working collaboratively with a motivated and highly successful team in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mining infrastructure projects, ensuring deliverables comply with WSP CAD standards.
• Prepare drawings, including conceptual sketches and detailed construction drawings, using Autodesk Plant 3D software or Bentley Openplant.
• Create and administer project setups and specifications.
• Familiarize yourself with relevant international standards and learn client-specific standards and specifications.
• Read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD or piping ISO drawings and models.
• Create and modify detailed engineering drawings using 2D/3D AutoCAD or Bentley software packages.
• Develop piping plans, general layouts, isometrics, plot plans, and other project-specific details.
• Liaise with design teams to coordinate 3D model design processes and production.
• Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and accurately predict the time required to fulfill individual scopes of work.
• Review drawings for compliance with client drafting standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and Australian lead offices.
• Participate in design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
• Ensure drawings are issued and filed appropriately, following WSP QA processes.
• Conduct audits of adherence to WSP management and quality processes.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line managers.
• Embed health and safety into all work practices in line with company policies.
• Develop expertise and stay updated on drafting skills.
• Support the company's approach to sustainability.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in piping/mechanical 3D drafting and modeling.
• Minimum of a diploma in a relevant discipline.
• Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and familiarity with working in a lean environment.
• Experience with Autodesk software such as AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM 360, or Bentley Openplant and Projectwise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Key Competencies / Skills

• Mandatory skills:

+ Knowledge of preparing piping specifications on Autodesk Plant 3D. + Computer literacy with reasonable proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite. + Cultural awareness, an open mind, and good English communication skills. + Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

• Desired skills:

+ Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a consulting firm in complementary industries like mineral processing, oil & gas, power, mining using Autodesk Plant 3D software or Bentley Openplant and Projectwise. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
