Description
The Armed Security Officer position is responsible for protecting personnel, assets, and interests throughout the Company's footprint.
This position employs armed physical security tactics, screenings, highly technical security event monitoring, and security event response.
The position is located at Southern Company Gas HQ - 725 W. Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's/associate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Training certification reflecting knowledge of business practices required by industry standards.
- Availability to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, call out, and at designated Company location.
- Shift hours: 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am.
- Minimum 3 years law enforcement, military, private or industrial security experience preferred.
- Law enforcement, military, armed private or armed industrial security experience preferred.
- Pass psychological test, drug test, firearms evaluation, and Insider Threat Program.
- Qualify for firearm use and successfully re-qualify annually with semi-auto pistol and/or shotgun/rifle.
- Qualify for and obtain valid state firearm permit and driver's license.
- Successful annual qualification with all company-issued firearms required.
- At least 21 years of age.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Software House CCURE preferred.
- Knowledge of Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Superior computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work and make decisions with minimal direct supervision.
- Respond to complex technical inquiries regarding access application systems.
- Technical proficiency with access application systems at an operator level.
- Coordinate and liaise with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.
- Travel for training, storm duty, or potential security circumstances.
- Evaluate and determine appropriate action in response to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.
- Use sound logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions.
- Deal effectively with individuals under stressful situations.
- Perform various tasks simultaneously while working as a team.

- Multi-task and perform computer data entry while on phone calls.
