Description
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Barclaycard Payments. As a Software Engineer, you will help design, build, and operate customer-facing products that support one of the UK's leading payments businesses.
The purpose of this role is to design, develop, and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives
- Participating in code reviews and promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing
- Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contributing to the organization's technology communities
- Adhering to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data
As a Software Engineer, you will work as part of a Product Delivery team responsible for building, delivering, and supporting products end-to-end. You will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to develop high-quality solutions, contribute to technical improvements, and support the ongoing evolution of our technology landscape.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Software engineering experience with knowledge of modern application development practices
- Experience developing solutions across frontend, backend, or full-stack environments
- A focus on delivering customer-centered solutions and positive business outcomes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Additional skills of value include:
- Experience within payments, fintech, or technology-led organizations
- Knowledge of AI technologies and machine learning integration
- Experience with technologies such as Rust, Kotlin, TypeScript, or React
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, and containerization technologies
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD methodologies, and infrastructure as code
