Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help shape the future of our developer platform. You'll work across backend, platform, and full-stack systems to make it easier for developers to build useful, creative, and delightful apps on Reddit.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the core platform services and capabilities that power the developer experience.
• Create new capabilities that help external developers build great apps on Reddit.
• Contribute across the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences.
• Help shape team strategy and the future direction of the platform.
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of thoughtful ownership.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience working on platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery.
• Strong backend or platform engineering experience, along with the ability to work across the stack when needed.
• Familiarity with technologies such as C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
• A habit of using AI tools in your daily work to improve productivity and software quality.
• A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the bar for software engineering practices.
• A passion for building high-quality software that people enjoy using.
• An entrepreneurial mindset: you're self-directed, curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to turn ideas into action.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
