Behavior Specialist

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI.

In pursuit of its mission to provide an excellent education to all students in a safe and nurturing environment, the district is hiring a Behavior Specialist for Sheridan Road.

The Behavior Specialist will provide support related to behavior for identified students and collaborate with other interventionists in the building to ensure all students are fully supported on their path to graduation and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor's Degree or currently hold an LSEA hourly position
• Possess strong data analysis skills related to student outcomes and attendance
• Have experience building relationships with racially diverse, economically diverse, and linguistically diverse students
• Have previous experience developing and implementing behavior programs in a school setting
• Be committed to the Lansing School District mission and vision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching, coaching, and/or student support experience in an urban school setting
• Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and Synergy (among other systems)
• Proficiency in languages beyond English

Sample Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement tiered behavior support systems in collaboration with school administrators
• Build positive relationships with students
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators for student support related to academics
• Provide student feedback and track student data
• Coordinate services and resources for students and families both in and out of the school building
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the building administrators
