Part-Time Library Media Specialist

ACCEL Schools is seeking a passionate and highly qualified Part-Time Library Media Specialist to join the team at Barber Preparatory Academy, in Highland Park, Michigan.

As a Library Media Specialist, you will be at the heart of our learning community,cultivating a love of reading, supporting academic success, and integrating technology and library resources into the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Organize, catalog, and maintain all library materials and resources
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library skills into the curriculum
• Foster a welcoming, positive learning environment for all students
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
• Incorporate technology to enhance learning and research skills
• Participate in school activities, events, and non-instructional programs as needed
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience working in diverse, urban school settings preferred
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to supervise and support students across grade levels
• Must pass federal and state background checks
