Co-op Program – Investment Management, General Account Investments Asia 2027

Manulife's Asia General Account Investment function is seeking a co-op student intern to support Investment Management on a full-time basis for 6 months from January to July 2027.

The team directs investment of funds backing insurance reserves amongst different asset classes and investment managers, and oversees the investment management and performance of assets outsourced to external managers.

Responsibilities:

• Support market research and data analysis to support new strategy development and asset allocation decisions
• Help with overall investment portfolio management, monitoring, reporting, and performance evaluation
• Prepare regular investment reports for the investment committee, ALCO, and board meetings
• Support market research and data analysis on the development of strategic asset allocation frameworks
• Monitor investment portfolio activities, risk exposures, and ensure compliance against internal and external guidelines
• Monitor the performance of investment portfolios and fund managers, and recommend corrective actions

Requirements:

• Undergraduate graduate with a major in finance, economics, or business administration, or Master of Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related subjects
• Strong academic achievement
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, financial or investment concepts, and strong analytical techniques
• Familiarity with a variety of financial products and services
• Agile, creative, and able to show initiative in a challenging and fast-paced environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Solid computer experience in Office, with a strong aptitude for learning new software packages
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, and result-oriented
