As a Senior Systems Software Engineer, you will help architect and scale core game and engine foundations within Unreal Engine. You will maintain a broad view of the engine's architecture, identifying opportunities to improve performance, memory footprint, and stability.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain complex engine systems in alignment with broader technical roadmaps and team goals.
- Define and manage per-system frame budgets, establishing viable performance metrics for cross-functional teams and providing technical guidance to ensure these benchmarks are met reliably.
- Develop, integrate, and scale foundational engine systems within Unreal Engine for a performance-critical, networked game architecture.
- Deliver high-quality, performant technical implementations that adhere to strict memory and system constraints.
- Contribute to core EA technologies in an architecturally sound way to promote collaborative development efforts.
- Implement and manage data-driven systems to support live service updates, including efficient asset streaming, patching strategies, and live-data synchronization.
- Partner with leadership to define and uphold performance metrics while shaping long-term technical roadmaps.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with C++, with an understanding of best practices, and architectural considerations.
- 5+ years of experience with Unreal Engine architecture (e.g., core systems, performance management, memory optimization, multithreading or job strategies).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and architectural decisions to engineering peers and leadership.
- Experience with parallel programming, resource management, and multi-processor hardware architecture.
- Advanced experience profiling, optimizing, and debugging performance bottlenecks within Unreal Engine, including deep familiarity with memory management.
- Proficiency in integrating and maintaining large-scale systems covering multiple domains.
- Advanced debugging skills applicable to client/server multiplayer games.
