Senior Fullstack Engineer, Marketing

GitLab is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer for its GTM Engineering team. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you will design and build backend systems and services that power go-to-market and growth platforms. You will contribute across the stack where needed, shape architectural choices, and guide work from specification through production health.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for GTM and growth platforms.
• Contribute across the stack, including frontend work when necessary.
• Guide technical direction for owned systems, including build-versus-buy suggestions and evaluating trade-offs between speed and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, or reliability issues in backend systems.
• Review code and designs from other engineers and provide feedback.
• Mentor junior engineers on the team.
• Document system design decisions and backend architecture.

Requirements:

• Strong track record of owning backend systems in production.
• Proficiency in Vue, Node, Go, and Ruby.
• Experience with backend service design, API design, data modeling, and database performance.
• Ability to make sound technical trade-offs independently.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment.
• Clear written communication skills.
• Practical and proactive approach to collaboration.

Nice to Have:

• Experience building systems for marketing, growth, or GTM engineering contexts.
• Experience working in a remote-first or distributed organization.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
