Description
As an Engineering Manager at Tide, you're an experienced leader with strong technical and people-leadership skills. You'll lead the engineering delivery of our onboarding platform across major global markets, owning the technical direction and execution of systems that power friction-free member sign-ups, verification, and initial account setup.
You will focus on building scalable, compliant, and extensible capabilities that accelerate international expansion while seamlessly adapting to evolving regulatory and market needs. You'll manage and develop a team of engineers, setting clear technical standards and fostering a culture of technical rigor, ownership, and continuous operational improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering delivery of the onboarding platform across major global markets
- Own the technical direction and execution of systems that power friction-free member sign-ups, verification, and initial account setup
- Build scalable, compliant, and extensible capabilities that accelerate international expansion
- Manage and develop a team of engineers, setting clear technical standards and fostering a culture of technical rigor, ownership, and continuous operational improvement
- Collaborate closely with Product and business stakeholders to translate global accession strategy into reliable platform solutions
Requirements:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) building server-side applications and detailed knowledge of Java
- Sound knowledge of a backend framework (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot)
- Experience with running microservices and implementing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience engineering scalable and reliable solutions in a cloud-native environment
- A mindset of delivering secure, well-tested, and well-documented software
- Full ownership of your code and technical solutions across their entire lifecycle, from development to production
- Experience integrating with various third-party providers and partners
- Sound knowledge and experience working with relational databases
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and LLMs to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and delivery velocity

- Java, Spring Boot, and JOOQ
- Event-driven architecture with messages over SNS+SQS and Kafka
- Primary datastores are PostgreSQL via RDS or Aurora
- Docker, Terraform, ArgoCD, and EKS
- DataDog for monitoring, observability, and automated SLOs
- GitHub, Semgrep, and solid testing
- Angular on Web, Flutter for mobile app
- Fivetran/BigQuery/Looker for BI insights and Python/FastAPI/Faust + some ML libs for automated decisioning and risk management
