Description
We are seeking a Cost Planning Principal Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Company in Raymond, Ohio. As a Cost Planning Principal Engineer, you will play a critical role in determining the cost competitiveness of our products and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and optimization.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical engineering and experience in product development and design team leadership. You will be responsible for generating accurate cost estimates, verifying the reasonableness of cost targets, and leading cost discussion events.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generating accurate cost estimates from given part characteristics and manufacturing processes
- Verifying the reasonableness of cost targets and raising awareness if targets cannot be logically validated
- Leading cost discussion events and providing leadership and guidance
- Identifying areas for cost reduction and optimization
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Design, Purchasing, and Suppliers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field
- At least 8 years of experience combining product development and design team leadership
- Demonstrable technical expertise in part materials and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in CATIA, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
