Catering Support Volunteer

We are seeking a Catering Support Volunteer to join our team at WWT in Washington.

As a Catering Support Volunteer, you will provide hands-on support to our café team, ensuring we offer excellent customer service to all our visitors. Our Waterside café offers a delicious selection of home-cooked food, tray bakes, light snacks, and hot or chilled beverages.

Main tasks:

• Serve food, snacks, and drinks to visitors
• Assist with tidying, clearing, and cleaning tables
• Support behind-the-scenes with washing up, dishwasher loading, and sorting deliveries
• Engage with café visitors and help with any queries they may have
• Assist with recycling and waste disposal
• Refill food counters and displays to ensure they are replenished and look tempting
• Direct customers to available tables during busy periods

Requirements:

• Enthusiastic and friendly manner
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team of staff and volunteers
• Strong commitment to excellent customer service
• Previous experience working in hospitality is desirable
• Maintain excellent standards of food safety and personal hygiene
• Reasonably good level of physical fitness

Additional notes:

• We are looking for volunteers to help out one day per week from 11am-3pm, particularly on weekends & during the school holidays
• This role is not suitable for people under 18 years
