Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to join our team in Cape Town or Midrand. The successful candidate will have a B.Eng., B.Sc. Eng., or B.Tech. Eng. (Mechanical) degree and at least 3 years of experience in the Building Services Consulting sector.
The role will comprise predominantly HVAC, but experience in Medical Gases, Mechanical Utilities, Wet Services/Public, Fuel System Design, Vertical Transportation, and Fire Engineering Services will be highly advantageous.
Key responsibilities include:
- Possessing a high level of technical proficiency in HVAC design, including air conditioning heat load and ventilation calculations
- Managing projects from inception to closeout, with the ability to work independently
- Specifying and approving specialist equipment
- Using digital tools and data to improve project delivery, collaboration, quality, efficiency, and client outcomes
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ensuring quality control throughout project stages
- Providing site supervision and monitoring construction processes
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience with HVAC design software such as HAP, Loadest, IES, and BIM tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and Autodesk Forma
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage time, quality, and effort to deliver high-quality results
- Understanding of South African National Standards (SANS) and global standards like British Standards and ASHRAE
