Rapid and Rural Logistics is seeking an Ops Engineering professional with a proven track record in project management and delivery to lead strategic, cross-functional operations and technology projects. The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of fulfilment operations, including under-the-roof processes, inventory flows, and constrained FC assets. They will play a critical role in expanding the sub-same day program by integrating key material handling equipment to expand network coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage high-visibility automation programs, focusing on quality, capacity, and future design innovations to scale the SSD network.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Reliability Maintenance, Design, and Innovation Engineering teams to deliver complex solutions.
  • Execute key deliverable timelines for Engineering programs and meet specific operational goals aligned with stakeholders.
  • Analyse dashboards, automation logs, and resources to inform next steps and problem-solving.
  • Drive weekly quality and capacity performance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in the network, partnering with operations teams to meet customer promise and cost goals.

A Day in the Life: The Ops Engineer role offers flexibility in daily tasks, which will vary based on program actions, launch dates, implementation pilots, testing, and execution during peak periods. Some days will focus on program execution and deep dives, while others will involve heavier meeting schedules and cross-collaboration with stakeholders. Travel is expected but will be cyclical based on program goals and key execution dates.

About the Team: The R2L team comprises diverse managers from various backgrounds, united in their goal to expand and optimise Sub Same Day Delivery to Amazon customers. The team delivers solutions in partnership with Operations to scale and optimise performance in real-time and future network initiatives. Based in both Seattle and Nashville, the team collaborates across multiple business lines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of maintenance or engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the refrigeration industry.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field or 2+ years of Amazon RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) BB/3P Full Time Exempt experience.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Experience in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments, or in reliability/maintenance environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and field execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience with commercial CO2 refrigeration applications.
  • Refrigeration Trade School certificate.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs for commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime, throughput, or quality.
  • Experience working with and managing third-party vendors.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and related tools and techniques.
