Description

You will engineer the future with Synopsys, shaping the future of innovation from silicon to systems. As a Senior Thermal Application Engineer, you will partner with senior power electronics teams to understand their roadmaps, reliability goals, and constraints, then define workflows aligned with their design processes.

You will build die-to-board Multiphysics workflows that couple electrical, thermal, and structural analysis across the substrate, package, and PCB to predict hotspots, warpage, and interconnect fatigue before they reach the lab. You will drive thermal-mechanical reliability by turning mission profiles into junction temperature cycling, predicting solder fatigue, wire bond lift-off, and delamination, and correlating the results with power cycling and test data.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Shape customers' simulation strategies by partnering with senior power electronics teams
  • Build die-to-board Multiphysics workflows
  • Drive thermal-mechanical reliability
  • Prove value on real designs by leading technical evaluations and benchmarks
  • Be the voice of the customer by challenging fragile workflows
  • Scale expertise by creating best practices, application notes, and training materials
  • Support field and digital marketing by contributing to technical content, customer case studies, and industry events

The impact you will have includes:

  • Enabling customers in data centre power delivery, electric vehicle powertrains, and renewable energy systems to accelerate their product development cycles and improve performance metrics
  • Driving adoption and expansion of Ansys solutions across the power electronics segment
  • Shaping the product roadmap for power electronics simulation
  • Building repeatable, scalable workflows that become the standard methodology for electrothermal, thermomechanical, and reliability simulation
  • Reducing time-to-revenue for strategic accounts

You will need:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or BS with 5+ years of professional experience
  • Subject matter expertise in power electronics, ideally with industry experience in power converters, power modules, or power management ICs
  • Demonstrated use of commercial EDA or CAE software
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and workflow integration
  • Comfort working in Linux environments and navigating complex multi-tool simulation flows
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
