We are seeking a talented Financial Analyst to play a key role in supporting strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business decision-making for one of the nation's leading energy companies.
Job Summary The Financial Analyst position will provide direction and training to internal teams for insight on and influence for financial business decisions that will drive growth, operational excellence, and process improvement, including target setting, reporting and analysis, planning and forecasting, and corporate financial direction.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Understand complex processes to translate and provide education to internal teams
- Identify gaps in documentation, training, and reporting
- Create reports as needed to support financial analysis across the organization
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external partners to develop a deep business understanding
- Analyze financial risks and opportunities and develop insights to influence the organization's business decisions
- Analyze the business, identify issues, and recommend solutions that improve the business unit's financial or operational performance
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of financial information
- Make recommendations for allocation of resources and identification of cost savings opportunities
- Develop 5-year budgets annually with the assistance of key stakeholders
- Support the business unit in meeting all targets
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations
- Establish and maintain effective relationships and communications within AFT
- Assist with special projects as required
- Occasional travel and extended overnight stays for storm logistics and other business needs
Job Requirements
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required
- Basic understanding of GAAP and FASB
- Experience in Budgeting, Finance, Accounting, or similar experience desired
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures
- Familiarity with General Accounting Procedures and Corporate Guidelines
- Strong communication and training skills for complex processes
- Firm grasp of key financial concepts, including net income, EPS, cash flow analysis, and revenue requirements
- Working knowledge of financial management information systems and tools, such as PowerPlan, Oracle Planning, Oracle Projects, Oracle AP, and Maximo
- Ability to manage stress and balance multiple priorities while producing high-quality work under intense workloads and pressure
