Job Overview
We are seeking a Lead Technical Instructor to join our team in New York City. As a Lead Technical Instructor, you will deliver hands-on technical instruction across Anthropic's onboarding, residency, and technical enablement programs. You will also develop other instructors, run train-the-trainer programs, and improve the quality and consistency of technical instruction across programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on technical instruction across Anthropic's programs in New York and remotely across European time zones.
- Model excellent technical teaching for various audiences, adapting to different experience levels and technical depths.
- Run train-the-trainer programs for internal experts, contract instructors, and training partners.
- Coach and calibrate instructors through live and recorded observations, feedback, and recommendations.
- Partner with technical experts to create effective sessions, labs, exercises, and demonstrations.
- Own instructional quality in assigned programs and ensure delivery meets Anthropic's standards.
- Use learner and instructor data to identify gaps in instruction and recommend improvements.
- Help evolve Anthropic's technical instruction function, bringing your experience into standards, instructor development practices, and scaling quality.
Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, developer advocacy, technical education, or a similar technically deep role.
- 3+ years of hands-on technical instruction experience, including teaching engineers in live environments.
- Production engineering experience with written and shipped production software.
- Recent hands-on AI development experience with LLM APIs, agents, tool use, MCP, or related technologies.
- Instructor development experience with helping other instructors improve.
- New York City location or willingness to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or operating a train-the-trainer, instructor certification, or observer-calibration program.
- A portfolio of sessions, labs, or courses designed and taught.
- Experience teaching across time zones or to European audiences.
- Experience using Claude Code or a comparable agentic coding tool.
- Experience building with the Claude Developer Platform.
- Public speaking, conference workshops, or developer advocacy experience.
- Deep enthusiasm for AI and a commitment to building and deploying it responsibly.
