Description

We are seeking an Assistant Production Supervisor to support our production team at our factory in Dordrecht, Netherlands. As part of our team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes, supporting our production supervisors, and contributing to the growth and development of our organization.

Job Summary The Assistant Production Supervisor will assist the Production Supervisor in the daily management of the production organization and be responsible for the operational coordination of tasks during assigned shifts. This involves translating the production plan into daily execution, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality and business standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & HSE: Ensure compliance with safety procedures, company rules, and desired behavior; intervene immediately in unsafe situations and report incidents; conduct safety rounds and workplace inspections; encourage employees to report unsafe situations; maintain order, cleanliness, and 5S on the shop floor; support incident investigations and follow up on actions.
  • Daily Operations: Distribute tasks within the shift; coordinate daily production activities; monitor progress, output, and planning; prioritize tasks during operational disruptions; ensure correct shift start and handover; support line startups, changeovers, and product switches; escalate deviations to the Production Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Operational Support: Prepare daily reports; collect and verify production data; support Daily Operations Review (DOR) meetings with up-to-date information; manage action lists and follow up on actions; provide input for KPI reporting; support personnel planning and training registrations; check operational records for completeness.
  • Leadership: Coach Senior Operators and Operators during daily tasks; guide new employees and temporary workers; provide direct feedback on behavior, safety, and performance; encourage ownership and teamwork; identify training needs; contribute to assessment and development discussions.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with quality procedures; check critical process steps; follow up on quality deviations; collaborate with Quality on investigations; promote a right-first-time approach; ensure correct documentation.
  • Reliability & Asset Care: Support operators with first-line problem-solving; escalate technical issues to Maintenance; identify recurring faults; support root cause analyses; contribute to improving the reliability of installations and equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify waste and opportunities for improvement; support continuous improvement activities; ensure standard work on the shop floor; follow up on improvement actions; encourage employees to suggest ideas; support the implementation of new working methods.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain daily contact with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse; communicate clearly about priorities and disruptions; ensure complete shift handovers; support the Production Supervisor with up-to-date operational information; represent the shift as needed during operational meetings.
  • Employee Development: Coach Operators and Senior Operators during daily tasks; identify development needs within the shift; encourage knowledge sharing between employees; support practical training and onboarding; monitor the progress of training and qualifications; create a work environment where learning is part of daily work.

Requirements

  • MBO+ level, preferably in a technical or production-oriented direction.
  • Several years of experience in a production environment.
  • Experience with coordinating or functionally managing employees.
  • Knowledge of production processes, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean, 5S, and standard work.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or MES systems is a plus.
  • Visible presence on the shop floor, sets a good example, maintains overview under pressure, supports employees, sets clear expectations, and actively contributes to a safe, stable, and efficient production organization.
