Associate Director, Software Engineering

HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Associate Director, Software Engineering.

You will lead a variety of initiatives with a global team of engineers, work closely with stakeholders to ensure governance, project delivery, and architecture requirements are met.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading a global team of engineers on various initiatives
• Ensuring governance, project delivery, and architecture requirements are met
• Working across one or more DevOps 'pods' as the Lead DevOps/Cloud Engineer
• Driving the Kubernetes platform forward to keep up with growing business demand
• Building and managing cloud environments to enable application deployments
• Leading the engineering of solutions using Infrastructure As Code methods
• Ensuring operational and compliance activities are undertaken, and remediation actions planned for services
• Providing quality assurance for engineering delivery and ensuring best practices are followed
• Supporting continuous improvement processes and contributing to engineering best practices

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience with moving to the cloud and building at scale
• Advanced Kubernetes and Cloud knowledge (AWS)
• Familiarity with running large-scale platforms from build, test, deploy, monitor, and alerting
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills
• Experience operating in a highly regulated industry (e.g., financial services)
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum & DevOps environment
