Description
HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Associate Director, Software Engineering.
You will lead a variety of initiatives with a global team of engineers, work closely with stakeholders to ensure governance, project delivery, and architecture requirements are met.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading a global team of engineers on various initiatives
- Ensuring governance, project delivery, and architecture requirements are met
- Working across one or more DevOps 'pods' as the Lead DevOps/Cloud Engineer
- Driving the Kubernetes platform forward to keep up with growing business demand
- Building and managing cloud environments to enable application deployments
- Leading the engineering of solutions using Infrastructure As Code methods
- Ensuring operational and compliance activities are undertaken, and remediation actions planned for services
- Providing quality assurance for engineering delivery and ensuring best practices are followed
- Supporting continuous improvement processes and contributing to engineering best practices
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with moving to the cloud and building at scale
- Advanced Kubernetes and Cloud knowledge (AWS)
- Familiarity with running large-scale platforms from build, test, deploy, monitor, and alerting
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
- Experience operating in a highly regulated industry (e.g., financial services)
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum & DevOps environment
Desirable skills include:
- Terraform
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- ISTIO or other service meshes
- HELM
- Large variety of AWS services
- Python
- Kong or other API gateway technologies
- CI/CD tooling
- Monitoring services
- Jira / Confluence
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to communicate with impact and articulate complex information in a meaningful way.
