Join HSBC as an Associate Director, Software Engineering and help build highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines.
  • Design and deliver end-to-end integration solutions (Angular, Java, Spring Boot, Oracle, and CI/CD) for applications.
  • Collaborate with designers, front-end engineers, and back-end engineers to create reliable APIs.
  • Review and be responsible for code quality, facilitating development, testing support, production support, and implementation of End-to-End Integration applications.
  • Improve system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures.
  • Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, and designing and implementing systems.
  • Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes.
  • Liaise with colleagues to implement technical designs.
  • Investigate and use new technologies where relevant.
  • Work flexibly in shifts and provide on-call support.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • 15+ years of overall IT experience with Java, Spring Boot, CloudSQL, GCP.
  • Extensive experience on APIs and Web/Micro Services (REST, SOAP).
  • API Contract Design (RAML/Swagger).
  • Well-versed in API integration, Service-oriented architecture, and development.
  • Databases (relational, non-relational) ideally Cloud SQL.
  • Strong understanding of SQL.
  • Experience within Python would be preferred.
  • Experience in solution design/architecture and development on modular Java applications/APIs and Database.
  • Proven ability to define and build architecturally sound solution designs.
  • Experience in estimating development efforts and delivery planning.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts like firewalls, proxy servers, gateways.
  • Experience on cloud platforms (GCP is preferred).
