Manufacturing Engineer - Paint (New Model)

We are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer – Paint (New Model) to join our Manufacturing Engineering department in Woking.

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop optimal Paint practices and assist with budget implementation. You’ll experience diverse aspects of the business, collaborate with various teams, and contribute to projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Support cross-functional Design & Perceived Quality reviews for new models
• Work with Research & Development (R&D) on new material concepts and technologies
• Support Design Verification Plan (DVP) testing of new substrates
• Develop new Paint colours, including application sign-off
• Develop Paint application methods, including tooling definition
• Conduct PFMEA and DFMEA
• Plan facility and Paint Shop capacity
• Plan facility layout
• Develop process and documentation for Product Traceability methodology
• Generate and report Hours Per Car
• Identify part-related concerns, including Quality maturation, and escalate issues

Requirements

• A degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent experience in a similar role
• Ideally, experience with:
• Paint development and application methodologies
• Specification and procurement of paint jigs and fixtures
• Planning and execution of new vehicle programs
• Complex paint technologies and systems
• Vehicle assembly processes
• End-of-line vehicle processing and finishing
• Identifying resolutions for product-related issues, ensuring quality targets are achieved
• Implementing safe working practices
