Equipment Services Engineer

We are seeking an Equipment Services Engineer to provide daily leadership, guidance, and direction in the support and development of GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) technologies for customers across Southern Company.

The successful candidate will work within the Equipment Services group and serve as a technical resource for supporting design, maintenance, sparing strategy, and problem resolution for customers across the Southern Company footprint supporting circuit breakers and Gas Insulated Switchgear projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring safety and quality are top priorities
• Supporting GIS and circuit breaker-related projects, including working with Transmission Planning, customers, and vendors to meet technical needs
• Serving as a technical resource to the Project Management organization for project scoping and feasibility
• Participating in design activities such as specifications, design reviews, performing factory audits, witness testing, and assisting customers in resolving technical issues

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• A Professional Engineer License
• Knowledge of circuit breakers and GIS technologies
• Experience in transmission planning, maintenance, substation physical design, or protection and controls
