Electronic Arts is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join its Worlds research pillar. The successful candidate will help redefine game world authoring technologies, working at the intersection of traditional artistry and breakthrough Machine Learning.
The Senior Research Engineer will report to the Director of Research and work in a hybrid role, spending 3 days a week at the office in Redwood City (California), Montreal, or Vancouver (Canada).
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with researchers, engineers, artists, and designers to translate prototypes into production-ready engine features.
- Develop novel ideas by researching and implementing solutions to complex challenges in video games.
- Contribute to applied research in areas such as scene understanding, spatial reasoning, and visual quality evaluation.
- Build compelling demos that highlight powerful novel solutions for world-building in games.
- Contribute to team learning, sharing findings and best practices.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An advanced research background in Computer Science or a STEM field.
- Proven expertise with Vision-Language Models, Computer Vision methods, and hands-on experience with model training and inference.
- Practical experience translating ideas into functional prototypes or demos.
- Strong skills with development on Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
- Combined experience of 7+ years between graduate degree research and professional/research experience.
In terms of compensation and benefits, EA offers:
- Salary ranges of $141,400 - $204,400 CAD in British Columbia or $165,000 - $256,000 USD in California.
