Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our Emissions Measurement Laboratory team in Columbus, Indiana. As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will conduct performance and reliability testing on engines, components, systems, and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance and reliability testing on multiple and single cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls
  • Diagnose engine, component, system, control, and test cell problems and initiate resolutions
  • Configure and operate data acquisition systems, analyze and review data, and write computer programs to assist in analysis and data interpretation
  • Perform rig, engine, and component builds, tear down, and inspections
  • Grade and measure components
  • Create sketches for machining and fabricate necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings
  • Install engines and instrumentation in test cells and test rigs
  • Design, document, and execute test plans, and prepare test reports
  • Work with and train apprentices and technicians, and interface with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification
  • Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience
  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Department of Labor Certification or four years of experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field or associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience

Working Conditions:

  • 100% On-Site
  • Technicians will be required to do all mandatory training to remain compliant in their roles (HSE, CLC courses, bottle training, LOTO, etc.)
  • Technicians will be required to communicate with internal customers via email and collaboration applications (i.e. MS Teams)
  • Technicians will be expected to obtain forklift license
  • Technicians will be expected to be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Technicians will be expected to fulfill daily functional requirements via 5S methodology
  • Technicians will be expected to learn necessary fabrication skills and diagnostic skills
  • Technicians will be expected to review their time sheet every week
  • Technicians will be expected to purchase all necessary tools to work in the Laboratory
