Operations Manager

We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the safe, reliable, and effective delivery of recycling and waste collections and street cleansing services at our Wokingham depot.

The successful candidate will have line management responsibility for supervisors and their teams, and will be responsible for ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained, whilst delivering on the contract's KPIs.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure all Health and Safety, Biffa policies and procedures, and legal obligations are understood and followed by all staff
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and internal/external customers
• Work with the Senior Business Manager to achieve financial/budgeted targets for the contract
• Support staff training and development, and periodically review training requirements
• Supervise the performance of the operation and depot in relation to contract standards
• Constantly review the waste collections and street cleansing operations to ensure efficiency levels are continuously improved
• Ensure work equipment is operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines
• Maintain accurate records and systems for effective and compliant operations

Essential criteria:

• Experience of people and health and safety management in a unionised environment
• Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs
• Experience of vehicle management
• Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational/service environment
• Experience of producing and analysing reports using Microsoft Office Suite
• General knowledge of environmental responsibilities and existing health and safety legislation
• Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage a suitable outcome
• Analytical with the ability to measure and monitor data and take corrective action
